A 13 year old kid with an interest in science (which in and of itself is nothing short of a miracle… these kids today, get off my lawn, etc) whipped up an experiment with solar panels to see why trees grow the way they do. Turns out it’s because they get WAY more sunlight that way. So does this mean people will start installing huge silicon trees instead of nice flat roof panels?
Linked is the guy’s essay and his results. Neat stuff.
EDIT: Well, turns out he was testing for the wrong thing and his results aren’t specifically useful. Which is a bummer. But at least it’s a good example of a kid taking an interest in science and taking experimentation into his own hands.
