Spotted this on Lifehacker and thought I’d pass it on. A guy’s developed a browser extension (Chrome only for now, unfortunately) that will pick bits and pieces of a web page and translate it via Google Translate into another language of your choice. The idea behind this is that you can slowly immerse yourself in another language and start to learn it naturally as you surf. And if a word or phrase confuses you, you can click on it and switch it back to English.
Brilliant idea, I have to say. I’ve already got it set up for German in an effort to force myself to continue trying to learn it, rather than just pick it up, learn a few words and phrases, and forget again when I get lazy. Too bad it’s just Chrome, though. I need it for my preferred Opera.
