Boy do I love mayhem and turmoil, breaking news and horrible things happening to people. It’s part of why I watch COPS.
The market stuff lately is some of the best mayhem ever. Panic on Wall Street, congress crapping its pants, it’s just great. Now of course this hurts a lot of underserving people too. My IRA that I rolled over from my 401k at the last job has lost a little under a quarter of its value since then (for a while it was up a quarter too, but couldn’t cash out without penalties, so oh well), and I gave up on paying attention to the new 401k.
But when life gives you lemons, and/or limes, you mix drinks and try desperately to forget your troubles. My evil online associates and I have been spending a lot of time watching the Dow fall, just because. Today was a good day, too. Not only did we drop below 10,000 for the first time in almost 4 years, but we dropped, at best/worst, 475 POINTS below 10,000.
Unfortunately it’s starting to rally, so it may close over 10,000. Oh well. There’s always tomorrow. Some day I’m going to sponsor a public holiday based on schadenfreude.
