The White Sox won a hell of a nailbiting mini-playoff game last night against the Twins, 1-0. I got to watch most of it, and it was a lot of fun. So now the Sox get to move on to the playoffs.

The downside here is that both the Sox and the Twins would likely have lost in the first round of the real playoffs. I love my Sockies but the fact is that AL Central was in pretty sorry shape all around this year. This last game wasn’t a contest between great teams by any stretch of the imagination. Plus the Sox haven’t had a break, but get to start playing the Rays tomorrow, so they’ll be nice and exhausted.

I’ll keep hoping, but not holding my breath.
